1. Provide screening programs and services for patient-clients with breast concerns who are in need of such services.

4. Provide counseling and wellness education program and services for patient-clients with breast concerns who are in need of such services.

The Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center is one of the business units of the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga but more so, as one of the Corporate Social Responsibility Programs.              

         Initially, we intend to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Self Exam, provide corresponding ancillary services especially Digital mammography and Breast Ultrasound, with the end goal of decreasing Breast Cancer Mortality and Morbidity in the Philippines.


            As CMZ reaches its ninth Anniversary, the new Siemens Inspiration Digital Mammography within the new CMZ Breast Wellness Center is now available to the community. Screening mammography is advised for all women 40 years old and above.

A mammogram is a low-dose x-ray picture of the breast.


Procedure

    1. One of the patient’s breasts is placed on a clear plastic plate and gently, but firmly, pressed from another plate above her breast.
    2. The plates flatten and keep it still, which helps produce a better mammogram image. The pressure lasts a few seconds and does not harm the breast.
    3. The same steps are repeated with the other breast.
    4. The plates of the machine are then tilted to take a side view of each breast.
    5. A completed procedure results in two different x-rays of each breast, for a total of four x-rays.
Digital Mammogram
    1. An x-ray procedure that is the best screening tool to detect early breast cancer in women
    2. No preparation needed and conducted on an out-patient basis
    3. The patient should be conscious, awake, and cooperative
    4. An annual mammogram is recommended at the age of 40
    5. Screening Mammogram
      • Mostly done as a routine study
      • Performed in women without any clinical signs and symptoms
      • Only four basic views are taken

    A clinical breast examination (CBE) is a physical examination of the breast done by a health professional. Clinical breast examinations are used along with mammograms to check women for breast cancer.
